“Daughter’s Story” is actually the DLC “Inheritance” content of “Layers of Fear 1”.
Note that this chapter cannot be saved in the game, and the game system will not automatically save it.
Therefore, you need to complete the level once to unlock the final game ending and achievements.
After the game starts, you will play the role of the painter’s daughter, the protagonist in “Layers of Fear 1”, return to the painter’s residence.
This is also where the daughter grew up, and she will look for the legacy her father left her.
Kitchen – Layers of Fear 3 Daughter’s Story Walkthrough & Guide
The puzzle in the kitchen is located in the small compartment in the kitchen, where the scene where the painter looks for the dog will be triggered.
You can choose whether to close the door and let the dog escape.
Ending 1: Let the dog escape
This will increase the emotional bond between you and your father
Ending 2: Leave the dog in the kitchen
This will lower the emotional bond between you and your father
Remember to collect handmade paintings from the walls at the end.
Studio
Solving puzzles in the studio takes a long time.
There’s also some extra plot hidden here.
First, notice the two different tools on the left and right sides of the artboard at first, the oil paintbrush on the left and the crayon on the right.
According to the plot of the whole story, you can know that the daughter likes to draw crayons very much, but her father hopes that she can learn oil painting.
You can first use a crayon to draw the scene your daughter wants.
This will change the surrounding environment, and you can follow the black road on the ground to the scene where the first part of the “Little Red Riding Hood” story is performed.
Go back to the crayon drawing the same way, don’t rush to switch the oil brush.
What you need to do is to look for a red knife nearby, pull it, and follow the trail to find the location where the crayon is hidden.
Pick up the crayon and return to the drawing board for a second crayon drawing.
This will change the surrounding environment, and next, you need to follow the black road to find the scene where the second part of the “Little Red Riding Hood” story is performed.
After watching the performance, you can go back to the drawing board, pick up the oil paint brush, and do the oil painting guided by your father.
The requirements of my father’s oil painting are very simple. When you finish painting a scene with an oil brush for the first time, you need to find nearby paints to modify and render the scene.
After each set of renders, the surrounding environment changes.
You’ll need to travel further (the room will become a square maze) to find extra paint.
After completing the four sets of paint renderings, the final oil painting will have a charred house and charred ponies.
This memory will end successfully here, and you will return to the real world.
Remember to collect the handmade paintings on the nearby tables.
Storage
The storage room is located in a small room next to the basement.
After entering the storage room and coming to the door again, the memory scene will be triggered.
Father will look for your whereabouts, and you can choose whether to let him find it or not.
Ending 1: Unlock the deadbolt
This ending will make your father unable to find you, and the emotional bond between you and your father will deepen
Ending 2: Do nothing
This ending will cause your father to find you and scold you, and the emotional bond between you and your father will be reduced
After the memory scene is over, don’t forget to pick up the handmade painting on the floor in front of the door.
Basement – Layers of Fear 2023 Daughter’s Story Walkthrough & Guide
In the basement scene, there will be a scene where the father plays the piano.
You will have two chances to choose whether to hand him the sheet music (father will play the wrong 3 times, you can hand him the sheet music in the first two times)
This memory scene ends as follows: .
Ending 1: Choose to give the sheet music to your father
The sheet music is located on a pile of books on the right side behind the father, and you can give it to the father after the interaction.
This will enhance the emotional bond between you and your father.
Ending 2: Do nothing
Another flare-up of your dad’s moody temper will lead to a lower bond between you and your dad.
After the memory scene is over, remember to collect the hand-drawings on the nearby wooden boxes.
Second Floor – Layers of Fear 3 Daughter’s Story Walkthrough & Guide
Aisle
Then go to the second floor area of the house.
First, there will be a gust of wind blowing here, after which you can collect a hand-painted painting from a nearby table.
Large Sofa
Then come to the big sofa, after a memory scene flashes, you will find a hand-painted picture.
In this scene, there is a black dog on the couch, and you have to choose whether to drive him away.
Ending 1: Drive off the black dog
This will ease the mood of the father, and the emotional bond between you and your father will be enhanced.
Ending 2: Don’t Drive off the black dog
This will make the father very irritable, and the emotional bond between you and your father will be reduced.
Enter the room with the old oil paintings. In this room, you will find another handmade painting.

Enter the empty room at the far end of one corner of the corridor and interact with the strange painting on the wall.
You will enter the scene where your father draws for you.
In this painting scene, dad needs your whole new attention nailed to the drawing board.
However, due to the influence of the environment, you will have effects such as turning your head, distracting attention, and fear.
You can adjust the camera in time to avoid being scolded by your father.
Ending 1: Finish the painting carefully
If you have been staring at the drawing board with concentrated attention, then Dad finished his painting after telling a fairy tale.
This will make him very pleased with your patient behavior. The emotional bond between you and your father will improve.
Ending 2: Finishing the painting hastily
If you get distracted and can’t concentrate after being warned twice by your father, he will sloppily finish the painting and scold you. This will lower the emotional bond between you and your father.
When you’re done with this memory scene, don’t forget to pick up the hand drawing on the floor near the portrait.
Father’s office – Layers of Fear 2023 Daughter’s Story Walkthrough & Guide
Once you’ve entered your father’s office, you’ll need to decide which room to head for.
Notice that the scene is exactly the same whether you walk towards the mother’s room or towards the father’s room.
It’s just that after going through 3 such intersection choices, it will affect the bond between you and your father.
Ending 1: Go towards father’s room more times than towards mother’s room
This will enhance the emotional bond between you and your father.
Ending 2: Go to mother’s room more times than father’s room
This will lower the emotional bond between you and your father.
The puzzle scene here is relatively simple, the first one is the mother’s piano room.
Play the keys on the piano casually until you annoy the father downstairs.
After pissing him off twice, your mother advises you to pick up the candles in the drawer and follow her instructions to play a decent melody.
Ending 1: Complete the performance according to the content of the crayon drawing
Your father will praise your musical talents, which will enhance your bond with him.
Ending 2: False failure to complete crayon cue performance
Your mother beat you up and you failed to get your father’s praise. This will lower the emotional bond between you and your father.
The puzzle in the next room is very simple, you need to find the card in the box.
After you find it, don’t leave the room the same way, but leave through the door next to the box.
Next you’ll go through a hallway with a van speeding through the window.
After watching the horror scene, go back the same way.
Pass the rocking car on the way, and at the same time encounter a toy train on the ground.
Ending 1: Pick up the toy train
Improve your bond with your father
Ending 2: Ignore the toy cars
No effect.
Go into the next room and you will find the portrait of the mother divided into 3 parts and lost.
You need to find three parts of this portrait.
First part:
Located inside a cabinet.
Second part:
Behind the portrait next to the fireplace, this portrait needs to be pushed.
Third part:
Located on a chest to the right of a slightly creepy portrait of a woman.
You need to push to this cabinet and wait for the paper to slowly fall from the air.
After finding the three portrait fragments, go back the same way and reach the stairway.
You will see the restored portrait here again.
In the next scene, you’ll go through a series of drawers and cabinets.
On the way, you can collect three cakes (this will not affect the main storyline of the game, but you can unlock an additional achievement)
The first cake:
The second cake:
Push down the ball on the bookshelf, the plot scene will be updated, and then you will find this cake.
The third cake:
Push down the road board here to get a new road, and you can collect this cake at the end of the road.
Finally leave the door with scary shadows, after a series of scenes in front of the sofa, pick up the items in front of the sofa.
(Mother’s route is a glass of wine, father’s route is a pill bottle)
Go to the next room of colored blocks.
You need to find three parts from the toy car: a wind-up handle, and two wheels.
The wind-up handle is right next to the little toy car and is easy to find.
One wheel is on the table and the other is on the bookshelf.
After the wheels are installed, follow the light of the car and go straight ahead.
There will be a quarrel scene between the parents.
(The lines of the quarrel scene will be different depending on whether you choose the ending of the mother line or the father line)
When the toy car enters the mouse hole, open the door and leave here.
You will return to the real world, interact with the handmade paintings on the desk, and collect them.
Mother’s room – Layers of Fear 3 Daughter’s Story Walkthrough & Guide
The flashback scene in the mother’s room has only one phonograph.
When the mother feel to the pain and needs you to help her turn on the phonograph, you can choose whether to turn it on or not.
Ending 1: Turn on the gramophone in time
This will increase the emotional bond between you and your father
Ending 2: Do nothing
This will make the mother angry and the emotional bond between you and the father will be lowered
After completing this memory scene, remember to pick up the handmade painting in the cabinet next to the door.
After completing all the above explorations, you will be prompted and your room will open.
You can enter your room for the game’s final ending (two different endings).
Or you can go back to the studio downstairs, put all the hand-painted paintings (9 in total) on the clue wall, check your father’s intentions, and get the true ending.

How to achieve the Full ending of Daughter’s Story – Layers of Fear 3
Daughter’s Story has a total of 3 game endings.
As a DLC content, the entire game process of “Daughter’s Story” is about one and a half hours. You cannot save in the game, and the game system will not automatically save, so you need to clear the level once to get the corresponding ending.
In this story, what you think and do about your father will determine the final outcome of the game.
Ending 1: Forgiveness
How to achieve:
0. Collect all kinds of notes and letters in the house as much as possible to obtain memory plot
1. Kitchen: open the door and let the dog out
2. The sofa on the second floor aisle : Interact with the dog and let him jump off the sofa
3. Painting the scene: stand in front of the drawing board, don’t look around or be distracted by other things until the father finishes the painting
4. Father is in front of the piano: quickly find the sheet music in the nearby area and give it to him (he will play the wrong timing 3 times)
5. Piano House: When you fail to play the piano for the first time, follow your mother’s advice, take a crayon to mark the keys of the piano, and finish playing.
6. Locked in the closet: When you find yourself locked in the closet, quickly lock the closet.
7. Mother’s Room: Turn on the gramophone in the mother’s room, this will calm the mother down
8. Learn to draw: listen to my father and improve the drawing according to his ideas (using a brush instead of a pencil) until there is a charred horse in the drawing
9. Find the Broken Mother Portrait: Find and assemble the 3 torn mother sketches, and interact with the restored portrait after the sketches are collected
10. The choice of parents’ room: When you enter the father’s office, there will be a hallucinatory scene. You will have multiple times to go to and from the intersection of the parents’ room, and explore as many options as possible towards the father’s room.
(The above fulfillment conditions only need to complete about 70% to achieve)
Ending 2: Resentment
How to achieve it:
0. Try not to collect notes or diary contents in the room to avoid unnecessary plots
1. Watch the plot as much as possible at the plot point, but do not do any interaction, and do not collect the hand-painted paintings of each room.
2. Scenes that must be interactive, try to choose actions opposite to “Ending 1”
3. Choice of parents’ room: at the intersection as much as possible, choose the route to explore towards mother’s room
Ending 3: True Ending
How to achieve it:
0. Collect all the notes and diary contents in the room as much as possible to obtain memory plot
1. Complete the game in the same way as “Ending 1”, and try to make the father a “positive” image
2. Obtain the handmade paintings received in each room (a total of 9), and bring them back to the father’s studio on the first floor. After interacting with the clue wall, you can stitch together an image of an additional character.
(Note, if you encounter a bug and cannot collect all 9 handmade paintings, you can try to explore all the rooms again to see if some rooms need to be challenged again)
3. Interact with the items on the bookshelf behind the clue wall to watch the real ending.
