Comprehensive Guide of Cyno – Genshin Impact

Welcome! This Guide will cover every aspect of Cyno build in Genshin Impact. Talent, Weapons, Artifacts, Constellations, Team Comps, etc.

Cyno Character Overview – Genshin Impact Guide

“Cyno” is a continuous output character with Electro element that benefits more from precise operation. When using his Elemental Burst, they enter the “Pactsworn Pathclearer” state, changing their attack style and gaining stronger output abilities. In this state, the effect of their Elemental Skill will be changed to deal Electro elemental AOE damage, and the duration of the Pactsworn Pathclearer state will be extended.

While in the Pactsworn Pathclearer state, if you use their Elemental Skill according to intermittent visual prompts, the “Judication” effect will be triggered, increasing the damage dealt by the Elemental Skill and unleash three additional Thunderclap Arcs that deal Electro elemental damage.

Cyno’s Talent Analysis – Genshin Impact Guide

Cyno Talent Priority – Genshin Impact Guide

Elemental Burst > Elemental Skill > Normal Attack

Senno’s main output damage comes from releasing Normal Attacks after using their Elemental Burst, and the damage multiplier of these Normal Attacks depends on the level of the Elemental Burst, rather than the initial Normal Attack. Therefore, prioritize upgrading Elemental Burst, followed by Elemental Skill. We recommend upgrading the skill level to 1/8/8 or higher

Normal Attack

Genshin Impact Guide Cyno Normal Attack

  1. The Normal Attack consists of 4 stages of spear strikes that deal 5 hits of damage. The third stage deals 2 hits of damage, while the other stages deal only 1 hit of damage.
  2. The Normal Attack after using their Elemental Burst is a separate Normal Attack module, and the level of this Normal Attack does not affect the damage of Cyno’s Normal Attack after using their Elemental Burst. Therefore, you can choose not to upgrade it.

Elemental Skill (E)

Genshin Impact Guide Cyno Elemental Skill

  1. The Elemental Skill is divided into 3 types: the Normal version before activating the Elemental Burst, the normal enhanced version after activating the Elemental Burst, and the strengthened version after activating the Elemental Burst (QTE). To facilitate discussion, we will refer to these 3 types as “1, 2, and 3 – Level E,” respectively.
  2. When the 1-Level E hits an enemy, it produces 3 Electro Particle clusters, while the 2-Level and 3-Level E produce 1-2 Electro Particle clusters.
  3. All versions of the Elemental Skill apply a weak Electro element Aura (1 gauge unit, 9.5 seconds).
  4. The Elemental Skill during their Burst can cancel the post-attack animation of Cyno’s Normal Attack well.

【Key Point】QTE Triggering (3-Level E)

Cyno qte

As shown in the above GIF animation, after casting the ultimate, triggering the “Judication” effect of the passive talent can be achieved by using an elemental skill when the full-screen effect of “Endseer stance” appears on the screen. This will generate three Duststalker Bolts, causing Electro damage.

QTE: Short for “Quick Time Event,” it refers to a fast-click reaction event in gaming terms. Here, triggering the Judication effect of E Level 3 can be understood as a “perfect judgment” event.

Elemental Burst (Q)

Genshin Impact Guide Cyno Elemental Burst

  1. The basic attack multiplier after activating the Elemental Burst is only affected by the level of the Elemental Burst itself.
  2. The charged attack after casting the Elemental Burst is considered a normal attack and can benefit from the damage boost from weapons and artifacts that increase normal attack damage (such as Gladiator’s Finale and Retracing Bolide).
  3. Normal attacks, charged attacks, and plunging attacks under the effect of the Elemental Burst will all have a weak Electro element application (1 gauge unit, lasting for 9.5 seconds).
  4. During the ultimate state, the Electro damage of normal attacks cannot be overwritten by elemental enchantment effects, such as Bennett’s 6 constellation bonus, Candace’s ultimate, and Chongyun’s elemental skill.

【Key Point】Recommended Output Rotation (0 Constellation)

Non Thundering Fury 4-piece set:

E, Q, 3x Normal Attack, E, 5x Normal Attack, Enhanced E, 5x Normal Attack, Enhanced E, 5x Normal Attack, Enhanced E, 5x Normal Attack, Enhanced E

With Thundering Fury 4-piece set:

E, Q, 4x Normal Attack, E, 4x Normal Attack, Enhanced E, 4x Normal Attack, E, 3x Normal Attack, Enhanced E, 5x Normal Attack, Enhanced E, 4x Normal Attack, E, 3x Normal Attack, Enhanced E

【Note】

  1. Enhanced E: Refers to E Level 3 mentioned earlier, which triggers the “Judication” effect;
  2. The E before the ultimate is a Level 1 E, which is the technique of “using E before Q”;
  3. The E during the ultimate is a Level 2 E, which does not trigger the “Judication” effect;
  4. Here, “a” refers to the number of times the normal attack button is clicked. The normal attack combo after activating the ultimate is 5x Normal Attack;
  5. For the Non Thundering Fury 4-piece set, the “4x Normal Attack – Dash – 3x Normal Attack” technique can also be used, which has a similar output to the 5x Normal Attack technique.
  6. The purpose of “using E before Q” is to increase the energy recharge of Raiden Shogun’s ultimate.

Passive Talent

Genshin Impact Guide Cyno Passive talent

Passive Talent 1: When 3 strikes of the Duststalker Bolts hit the same enemy, only one weak Thunder elemental Aura will occur (9.5 seconds).

Passive Talent 2: This talent applies to the base damage multiplier range and is added to the “Cyno’s attack power X skill multiplier” and Aggravate reaction calculations.

Passive Talent 3: This talent has the same effect as the third Passive talent of Faruzan.

【Information 2】Cyno’s Main Damage Calculation Mechanism

Damage Calculation of Passive Talent

Damage of “Normal Attack” after activating the ultimate:

(Attack power x Normal attack multiplier in the ultimate + Mastery x 1.5 + Aggravate base value) x Character damage coefficient x Critical damage coefficient x Enemy defense coefficient x Enemy resistance coefficient

Damage of “Duststalker Bolts

(Attack x 100% + Mastery x 2.5 + Aggravate base value) x Character damage coefficient x Critical damage coefficient x Enemy defense coefficient x Enemy resistance coefficient

【Note】

Assuming that this damage triggers a Aggravate reaction and the damage is critical;

The amplification effect of Passive Talent 2 and Aggravate is applied in the “base damage multiplier range”;

The Normal attack/skill damage bonus includes elemental damage bonus, Normal attack/skill damage increase, etc.

Weapon explanation Comparison

Weapon Selection Explanation

Cyno Island is a character whose base damage multiplier is based on her own attack power. With the effect of her Passive talent, it is recommended to prioritize “Critical rate, Critical damage, Elemental Mastery, and Percentage Attack” when choosing weapons. In the talent analysis, we also learned that for Cyno, who mainly relies on Aggravate reaction, the proportion of her “Attack x Multiplier” range is high, so it is recommended to prioritize weapons with double critical stats when choosing weapons.

  1. The Staff of the Scarlet Sands cannot obtain Nahida’s Passive talent 1 or Sucrose’s Passive talent 2 Elemental Mastery increase (the Elemental Mastery obtained from secondary conversion cannot be obtained, and only the fixed value of Mastery can be obtained).
  2. When paired with weapons with high base attack such as Primordial Jade Winged-Spear or Calamity Queller, you can consider choosing an Attack Clock artifact, which has little difference from a Mastery Clock artifact.
  3. When paired with weapons with low base attack such as deathmatch or White Tassel, it is recommended to prioritize Mastery Clock artifact.
  4. In addition to the above weapons, weapons such as Vortex Vanquisher, Moonpiercer, and Dragon’s Bane can also be chosen.
  5. For weapons that promote Cyno Island’s energy recharge optimization, such as Engulfing Lightning, Skyward Spine, and Kitain Cross Spear, they can also be considered, but they will reduce Cyno’s output capabilities.

Cyno’s Best Artifact Recommendation- Genshin Impact Cyno Guide

Substats Priority – Genshin Impact Cyno Guide

Critical Rate ≥ Critical Damage > Elemental Mastery > Percentage Attack > Energy Recharge

Artifact selection and attribute explanation – Genshin Impact Cyno Guide

  1. From the comparison chart of weapons and artifacts in the above figure, it can be seen that under the condition of 0 constellation, the difference between these three artifact sets is relatively small for various weapons (basically within 5%), which means that if you already have Gladiator’s Finale or Thundering Fury with excellent substats and do not plan to obtain high constellation levels or highly refined weapons from Cyno, you can directly choose them.
  2. On the contrary, if you plan to obtain Cyno’s constellation levels of 2 or above, highly refined weapons, or do not have any of the three artifact sets, you can farm for a four-pieceGilded Dreams set and then use the substat difference to synthesize Gladiator’s Finale or Thundering Fury.
  3. It is recommended that Cyno’s Critical Rate should be above 70%, with around 80% being the best, and Critical Damage for double-crit weapons should be above 190%, while for non-double-crit weapons, it should be above 160%.

Cyno’s Constellation Effects Guide in Genshin Impact

Cyno’s Constellation – Genshin Impact Guide

Damage Expectation Percentage Comparison

Genshin Impact Guide Cyno constellation comparison

Explanation of Constellation Effects – Genshin Impact Cyno Guide

  1. As mentioned earlier, many of Cyno’s boosts come from the “base multiplier” interval, while the damage increase interval can only be obtained through artifacts and weapon passives, which means that the increase in damage must be higher than the above two intervals.
  2. With a Cyno of 2 constellations, the highest 50% bonus to Electro Element damage can be obtained, compensating for the lack of damage increase at 0 constellations.
  3. From the comparison chart of the constellation upgrades above, it can be seen that the most significant improvements are at 2 and 6 constellations, so if you are considering obtaining Cyno’s constellations, 2 and 6 constellations should be the target.
  4. The additional Duststalker Bolts and the 3 Duststalker Bolts from the burst at 6 constellations share the Elemental Aura application rule.
  5. The increase in attack speed at 1 constellation allows the “4a-sprint-3a (non-Thundering Fury)” and “4a-level 2 E-3a (Thundering Fury)” combos to become “4a-X-4a” cycles, slightly increasing Cyno’s output.

Cyno’s Best Team Comps – Genshin Impact Guide

Hyperbloom Aggravate Team Comps – Genshin Impact Guide

Cyno + Kuki Shinobu + Yelan/Xingqiu + Nahida

When pairing with a hydro element character, the Catalyze and Dendro elements can react with the hydro and electro elements respectively. Although the hydro element will affect Cyno’s Catalyze reaction proportion, the overload reaction triggered by the electro element can compensate for the team’s damage.

In this team, Cyno triggers most of the Hyperbloom reactions. At this time, Kuki Shinobu can choose to stack HP to increase the amount of healing and increase the team’s fault tolerance.

Choosing Xingqiu can further increase output fault tolerance by using the Rain Swords’ interruption resistance and damage reduction effects, while choosing Yelan can shorten the output time and increase Cyno’s electro damage (increasing the proportion of Catalyze and increasing damage with Yelan’s talent).

Except for Yelan, it is recommended to choose a Traveler (dendro) for off-hand dendro characters because of its long elemental aura application time and large range.

Double Electro Catalyze Team Comps – Genshin Impact Guide

Cyno + Fischl + Off-hand Dendro + Shield/Healer

Cyno and Fischl form a double electro resonance, which produces additional electro particles when triggering electro-related reactions, optimizing the energy accumulation of Cyno’s ultimate. Zhongli’s shield provides the team with interruption resistance and reduced resistance.

【Note】Stack the Traveler (dendro)’s energy charging efficiency as much as possible to ensure that the Traveler (dendro) can accumulate ultimate energy in a shorter time, recommended at 250% or above.
