Layla is a support-type character who provides shields and applies Cryo aura to enemies through her skills. Her Elemental Skill creates a Cryo shield and deals Cryo damage to enemies with Shooting Stars during the shield’s duration. Her Elemental Burst applies Cryo aura to enemies off field.

Normal Attack

1. Her Normal Attack has three hits, with a notCryoable post-attack animation on the third hit.
2. It is worth noting that when Layla’s Normal Attack is infused with different elements, the effect of the “stars” on the third hit will also change accordingly (currently, with Bennett’s 6 constellation, Chongyun’s Elemental Skill, and Candace’s Burst).

Elemental Skill (E)

1. All of her Elemental Skills apply a weak Cryo aura (1 gauge unit, 9.5 seconds), and each Shooting Star can apply the aura only once per round.
2. When the elemental skill is used, it does not generate elemental particles. However, when the Shooting Star hits an enemy, it will generate 1-2 elemental particles with a 3.5 second cooldown (1/3 chance for 1 particle, 2/3 chance for 2 particles).

1. A shield can be thought of as “additional external HP.” The actual amount of damage a shield can absorb depends on the character’s DEF, which varies from character to character.
2. When a character has multiple shields, the one with the highest strength will be used to absorb damage. The other shields will also absorb the same amount of damage.

The Starlight Slugs produced by the Elemental Burst are weak Cryo elemental aura (1 elemental gauge unit, 9.5 seconds) and follow the rule of “elemental applied every other hit within 2.5 seconds”.

Passive Talent

Passive talent 2 belongs to the base multiplier range, meaning “Shooting star damage = (Layla’s Attack x skill multiplier + Layla’s Max HP x 1.5%) x the product of other multiplier ranges”.

Layla’s shield is based on her Max HP, so if you want to increase the shield strength, prioritize equipment with HP stats.

Currently, there are only a few weapons with HP stats, including Key of Khai-Nisut (substat) and Primordial Jade Cutter (passive effect). Therefore, besides these two weapons, for shield support Layla, it’s better to choose weapons that can enhance the team’s functionality, such as increasing team damage or producing more energy orbs.

1. The passive effect of Key of Khai-Nisut cannot be triggered in the background. Therefore, if you want to activate the passive, the wielder needs to use elemental attacks and stand on the field for a short period (The main purpose of Layla is to provide a large amount of Max HP, greatly improving the absorption capacity of the shield).
2. When using Favonius Sword, it is necessary to stack critical hit rate to increase the frequency of the passive effect.
3. Layla’s shield is a “pseudo-seamless” one. If the shield does not break during the duration, the CD and duration can be connected. If the shield breaks in the middle, a shieldless period will occur. Using the Sacrificial Sword can produce additional energy orbs while also increasing the shield’s fault tolerance when it breaks midway.

3. Layla’s Elemental Burst only requires 40 energy to activate, so her energy recharge needs are relatively low. In addition to HP stats, you can stack a small amount of energy recharge stats.

Hu Tao Double Hydro team

Hu Tao + Layla + Yelan + Xingqiu / Mona

Layla’s shield strength is linked to her max HP, and the Double Hydro resonance can further increase Layla’s shield strength. Combining elemental skill and burst attacks with cryo elements can trigger frozen reactions, causing additional melt damage from Hu Tao’s attacks. When facing multiple enemies or enemies with high mobility, pairing Layla with frozen reactions can help control them to some extent.

However, in single-enemy or boss environments, Zhongli is still the preferred character. Layla is more of a substitute for Zhongli in this team comps. She can be chosen when there is no Zhongli or when Zhongli is in another team (such as the Melt or Catalyze team), and she competes with another cryo shield support, Diona.

Similarly, Yoimiya can also be paired with Layla to increase output reliability as a shield support.

Recommended Output Rotation

Xingqiu’s E+Q+E followed by attack (A), Layla’s E+Q followed by attack (A), Yelan’s E+Q, and finally Hu Tao’s E followed by normal /charge attack (A) for output.

Hu Tao Build

Yelan Build

1. When Yelan has low constellations, it is better to choose weapons with energy recharge, and when her constellations is at 1, it is recommended to choose weapons with double critical.
2. For a Hydro character with 0 constellations, it is recommended to have an energy recharge of 240% or higher for a single character and around 200% for a team with two Hydro characters. For a Hydro character with 1 or more constellations, it is recommended to have an energy recharge of 200% for a single character and 150-180% for a team with two Hydro characters.

Xingqiu Build

1. Prioritize Xingqiu’s energy recharge: For a single Hydro character with less than 6 constellations, it is recommended to have an energy recharge of 240% or higher, and for a team with two Hydro characters, it is recommended to have around 210%. After unlocking 6 constellations, it is recommended to have an energy recharge of 200-220% for a single Hydro character and 180-200% for a team with two Hydro characters.
2. Xingqiu’s skill has a long cooldown, so use it first and then wait for it to cool down.

Mona Build

1. Prioritize building up elemental burst energy for optimal performance, and aim for an Energy recharge of 220% or higher.
2. In a “bleeding” environment, consider using “Prototype Amber” to increase the team’s fault tolerance.

[Note] Prioritize the energy recharge efficiency of Xingqiu, Yelan, and Mona to ensure the ultimate can be rotation.

For the Double Hydro team, Yelan with Constellation 0 is recommended to have an energy recharge rate of 180-200%, Constellation 1 is recommended to be around 150%, and Xingqiu is recommended to have an energy recharge rate of around 200%. For Layla, if she is the main shield support, it is recommended to prioritize HP over energy recharge.

Catalyze Team Comps – Genshin Impact

Fischl Build

1. “Elegy for the End” provides functionality, while the others tend to lean towards output.
2. “Pin-Lei” is used more in conjunction with low-frequency grass characters.
3. Prioritize elemental skill, followed by elemental burst. Do not upgrade normal attack unless necessary for the main DPS character.

Tighnari Build

1. Prioritize weapons with dual critical stats, followed by weapons with elemental mastery.
2. It is possible to use mixed artifact sets, such as 2-piece Viridescent Venerer set and 2-piece elemental mastery set.
3. Substats should prioritize dual critical stats, followed by elemental mastery and percentage-based attack.

Nahida Build

1. Prioritize elemental mastery in the 900-1000 range.
2. If elemental mastery is below 800, prioritize stacking elemental mastery. If it’s above 900, consider stacking critical rate and other stats to increase the damage of the skill.
3. If the team does not have a shield or healing character, consider trying out the prototype Malice.

[Note] It is recommended for Tighnari to have a critical hit of 70-85% and a critical hit damage of 200-220% for double critical weapons or 160-180% for non-double critical hit weapons. It is recommended for Nahida to have a mastery of 900-1000. When paired with a double Dendro team, it is recommended to prioritize the use of the four-piece Deepwood Memories set.

Character summary

Overall, Layla is often used as a support and shield role in team compositions. Due to the presence of the five-star character Zhongli, she is often used as a substitute for Zhongli in many teams or as a replacement when Zhongli is used in another team. Additionally, since Diona, who also belongs to the Cryo element, is also a support and shield character with healing abilities, there is competition between the two in some team compositions. However, Layla’s lack of elemental burst generation ability makes Diona more advantageous in some teams where her elemental skill can generate orbs and recharge energy, such as in some of Kamisato and Eula’s teams.
